It’s monday night the stage is set and ready to go for K’naan and Lenny Kravitz. Took about 30 minutes for the show to get started. Ok I have to be honest here K’naan wasn’t all that great. He did more acapella stuff then actual music. The only song he was actually good on was ‘Bang Bang.’ He could of been so much better I think. I just think he really bored the audience. Ok enough about K’naan, it took about a hour for Lenny Kravitz to get on. Lenny did a great job that night I wished he really played longer. But he was drinking vodka or something because he had a big bottle in his hand. The best songs he played of the night were ‘Let Love Rule’, ‘She Never Go My Way’, and ‘Fly Away.’ He really did rock on ‘She Never Go My Way’ it was really loud that one point of that song. ‘Let Love Rule’ was part of the encore of the night he didn’t leave until everyone sang that song. At one point of the song he let a kid come up and play the tambourine. He also signed the tambourine for him. You could also tell he was on something because he was acting funny. This wasn’t the best concert ever but it was still pretty descent. It was more of an older crowd so if you plan on going I would recommend go with a adult so you can fit in. But what was so weird the next day he canceled a north carolina show right after Nashville. I thought he might of done something in Nashville that night. I’m going to give this show a strong 4 out of 5. It’s pretty descent just be prepared to not recognize any songs he plays. If you been a fan for a long time your going to love his show.
It’s been 14 years since Alice in Chains last album the band is back for the first time ever. With a new lead singer to top charts with singles like “Check My Brain” and “A looking in View.” The band still has Jerry Cantrell and that same rock vibe as they did a few years ago. But it is a little main streamish for some fans. Die hard fans will love this album but some might be disappointed with it because it is kind of slow. It’s probably one of the best rock albums out there right now though. But Alice In Chains has always had that slow rock vibe. So for some fans this album is great to them because they love they’re style. For me however I am not a fan of the slow rock I was expecting for this cd to be fast and eye catching. I’ve only listened to the cd about twice. You’ll probably play it once and never listen to it again. Unless your a die hard fan you’ll probably listen to it all week. I recommend this cd for die hard fans only. But newbies give it a try you might like it. I’m going to give this cd a 4 out of 5. That is a solid score for this cd and for someone that is not a fan of slow rock. Just check it out for your self when your not listening to Breaking Benjamin or Nirvana.
So some of you liked my last VMA article well I’m going to write a new one for you! This was a great VMA show this year with nominees like Muse,
Taylor Swift, and Green Day and Russell Brand hosting AGAIN after getting fired from the last time he hosted. The best performance of the night was Muse it was their first U.S. concert that night in NYC. The second best was Green Day without a doubt. The 3rd best was Jay-Z even though he was really late to the event. I think we can all agree that Kayne West is an official douche bag now. In case you missed he interrupted Taylor Swift’s thank you speech. I was like come on man this is Taylor’s first award leave her alone!! Kayne stop getting mad because you don’t win every year. Even though Beyonce did win video of the year later that night. This year started out with a bang with Janet Jackson singing some of Micheal Jackson’s “Scream.” In a recent article Janet said “I knew he was watching.”It seems like every award show now is going to have a Micheal Jackson trend. I did think overall it was a really great award show I was blown away this year. It was so much better then last years. Britney
Spears wasn’t anywhere in sight for once. There was more rock then ever for the first time on MTV in years. I just wish they would take out the show’s band where artists play before the commercials because they sound horrible when they’re playing. Now I just wish MTV will play more award shows like this because they seem to get better every year and they need to stop inviting Kayne West because he never wins!! I’m going to give this award show a 5 out of 5. I also want to say rock on Jack Black rock on!
I’
ve been meaning to write this review earlier in the week because it got leaked to the bands web site. I just didn’t have time to do it at all so I’m going to do it now. This is Paramore’s 1st new album in 3 years since the platinum “RIOT!” and this new album is pretty damn awesome. I haven’t even listened to the whole thing yet and I’m already giving a review out. From what I’ve listened so far everything is great. Some tracks could of been a little bit better but new and old paramore fans will dig this new album. Really catchy songs like ‘Brick by Boring Brick,’ ‘Ignorance,’ and ‘All I Wanted’ are perfectly good reasons to pick this album up. If you download the iTunes LP version you will get a ‘Ignorance’ music video and the making of the music video. You will also get exclusive photos, liner notes, and a song list. I do recommend downloading it from iTunes because you get a lot of cool stuff. But if your low on cash you might want to go to amazon.com and get for 4 dollars and buying it. This album is good but not as great as RIOT ever was. I felt like they kind of stepped down this time on this album. Alright I’m going to give this album very strong 4 out of 5. It’s definetly one of the best poppy punk albums of the year so give it a try.
So I just got off the phone with my mom saying she just bought me some Lenny Kravitz tickets. Another show at the ryman auditorium again I hope this is going to be a good show. I never seen him live and always wanted too I liked his last record it sounded a lot like Led Zeppelin! I also have heard he going to squeeze Nashville, TN in so that is pretty awesome. The show is on October 26 like a week before Halloween so this should be pretty interesting show. I am sitting on the balcony this time and not on the floor I really hope these are great seats. I can’t wait to go to this show I hope rocks the ryman! I will bring back pictures and a review I probably won’t get any video this time because again ryman security is very strict on cameras.
Back in 2003 there was a band called Smile Empty Soul. They had dark angry lyrics on there first album. Now there back again with another dark album. If you never heard of these guys you got to be crazy or just don’t like rock music. In the early 90’s there was grunge metal and that’s what this sounds like. This is probably one of the darkest rock albums I’ve ever listened too. I think this is one of the best and underrated bands around. The darkest songs on this album are probably ‘Don’t Ever Leave’, ‘Faceless’, ‘Faker’, and ‘Stay Alive’ of course. I’ve seen these guys live they’re pretty amazing and I got they’re autograph somewhere on my wall. This is they’re first album in years I recommend you get a copy now. I’m going to give this album a 5 out of 5. Just because again there is nothing wrong with this cd it’s pure darkness grunge rock! Now it maybe kind of a slow album for people that never heard of these guys but if you like Breaking Benjamin, or Trapt or Nirvana even there’s no doubt your going to love these guys. Also this band is highly underrated there is another reason you should check them out.
Finally the wait is over for the new Jay-Z album. So you saw him on the VMA’s performed and ran out and grabbed the new album huh? Well so did I, this is probably the best Jay-Z album since the Blue Print 1. It is a pretty good cd with songs like ‘Empire state of Mind’, ‘Run This Town’, and ‘Off That.’ This cd is sure to be a hit. He also has some really dark lyrics on this album. It comes really close to rap album of the year. With in the 11th cd in his career he finish’s the final installment of the blueprint. But if your a die hard Jay-Z fan you might be a little disappointed with this album. He is just not the same Jay-Z as he was 4 or 5 years ago. He is more main stream now then ever. But I would definitely recommend this album too a friend even if they never heard of the guy. But this album definitely makes me feel like that rap is still out there. It feels like one of them rap albums from the 90’s. It’s a pure classic but not a perfect album. I still hope when I’m 40 that Jay-Z is still making albums. So I can tell my kids that this is one of the greatest rappers of all time. I’m going to give this album a 4 out of 5. The key tracks you should listen too are ‘Death of A Autotune’, ‘Hate’, and ‘Thank You.’
